Hermes traces his most well-known origins as the God of Divine Messengers, Boundaries, Wit and Cunning. Our Hermes Team shares in his sharp intellect and their want to break boundaries established by academia.

Zofia Borowcyzk

BSc Social Policy with Management

Zofia has a particular interest in human rights, specifically focusing on their violations within the European Union. She tries to combine both her interest in European politics with work experience in the private sector. Currently, she is a social assistant for her local MP, as she is passionate about changing Polish politics. Zofia is also currently involved in UNA Poland and enjoys ski racing during the winter.

Kate Begley

BSc Politics and International Relations

Kate is a third year Politics and International Relations student from a small village just outside of Oxford. She is interested in writing about a range of ideas about politics, society and culture. Of particular interest is the family and the gendered division of labour, workers’ rights and stakeholder interests, institutions of modern British government and the history of political philosophy.

Henrietta Skareng

BSc Politics and International Relations

Henrietta is a Swedish international student currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol. She is particularly interested in Swedish politics and the Nordic model, but also has an interest for foreign policy and is looking to pursue a Master’s in diplomacy and international governance.

Tomi Okusanya

BSc Economics

Tomi is an economics graduate, currently working as a commercial manager at Frasers Group. He has previously written for other student lead publications, such as the Corporate Feed. Working in his current role has re-ignited his interest in consumerism and behavioural economics. Outside of his work and writing pursuits, he enjoys stand-up comedy and animation.

Carla Forster

BSc Politics and International Relations

Carla originates from Germany and relocated to Bristol to pursue her degree in Politics and International Relations. She is concerned with issues surrounding democracy, human rights and political violence, as well as migration. Outside of university, she volunteers for Amnesty International, holds a position as a RA within the School of Education and enjoys martial arts.

Metis

Wisdom. Deep thought. Wise Counsel.

The Sea Nymph, Metis, is most well-known for her wisdom and sharp thoughts. She was both feared and respected by the King of Olympus's Gods. Our Team Metis shows similar characteristics – able to play and shake-up the system.

Alisa Karro-Strokova

BSc Education Studies

Alisa has interest in human capital, critical realism, and applying mixed method research in education. Her professional background features experience in teaching English and Mathematics to secondary school students and adults, mentoring students from disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as learning facilitation in a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health School. Outside of academia, Alisa enjoys attending Latin dance sessions, playing tennis, and going for countryside walks.

Alishba Saadat

LLB Law

Alishba's primary interest is in exploring key issues on the world stage, from a decolonial perspective – looking at sociological theories and political material realities, but through a lens that focuses on Western hegemony, and the role Imperialism has played in bringing about those realities. While elevating narratives that aren't Western-centric, the bulk of Alishba's work primarily has two main prerogatives: the critique of Global Capitalism, and the critique of Global Patriarchy.

Jakub Jezierski

BSc Politics and International Relations

Jakub is a second year Politics and International Relations student at the University of Bristol. His interests lie in EU policy, particularly in the current debates on the bloc’s green transition and human rights frameworks. He is also passionate about Central and Eastern European politics, with a focus on the Visegrad Group and Ukraine. Outside of research, he works at a sustainability-oriented think tank and belongs to a student organisation European Horizons.

Puneet Kaur Bansal

BSc Economics and Management

Puneet's interest concerns development economics, exploring inequalities between countries as well as gender inequality. Her family's history of living in rural India – seeing hardships that her family had to face – inspires her to pursue further research in university. She is also interested in menstrual capitalism, poverty, fast fashion and responsible consumption. She also enjoys basketball and volunteering.

Aditi Singh

BSc Accounting and Finance

Aditi is a first year student studying for a BSc in Accounting and Finance. In her free time, she enjoys reading about topics related to finance and development economics. To keep her life balanced, she also partakes in boxing to stay healthy.
